Arriving at NYX Dublin Portobello
Travel smart, stay green. We’re thrilled to have you staying with us in the heart of Portobello. While Dublin’s taxis are always an option, we champion a more sustainable way to see the city. We highly recommend using public transport for your journey—it’s easier on your wallet, kinder to the planet, and gives you a front-row seat to the local Dublin vibe.
Explore our transport guide below to find the best routes to and from the airport.

Commute in Town
The most convenient way to explore the city is via Dublin Bus, which runs frequently throughout the day. To plan your journey, we recommend using Google Maps, as it provides real-time updates and accurate route information.
Important Payment Info: Please note that Dublin Bus does not accept credit cards or digital wallets. They operate on an exact change only policy (coins only) and cannot provide change. To make your travel easier, we suggest purchasing a Leap Card at the nearby SPAR convenience store.
One Card for Everything: Your Leap Card is the ultimate travel pass—it is also valid for the Luas (the city tram) and the DART/Commuter Rail system.
The 90-Minute Fare: If you use your Leap Card, you can take advantage of the €2.00 "TFI 90" fare. This allows you to transfer seamlessly between the bus, Luas, and rail for 90 minutes at no extra cost. It’s the most affordable and efficient way to get around!
Top Up on the Go: For added convenience, you can download the TFI Leap Top-Up app. This allows you to check your balance and add money to your card instantly using your phone, so you never have to worry about running out of credit.

Exploring by Bike: Dublin Bikes
Directly in front of the hotel, you will find a Dublin Bikes station. These are ideal for short trips across the city center.
-
How it Works: You can purchase a 1-Day Ticket (€3.50) or a 3-Day Ticket (€5.00) directly at the station terminal using a credit card (look for the terminal with the card reader).
-
The "30-Minute" Rule: Once you have a ticket, the first 30 minutes of every journey are free. If you return the bike to any station within 30 minutes, you pay nothing extra. For longer rides, a small service fee applies.
-
Availability: Use the dublinbikes app (often called the RedClick dublinbikes app) to see in real-time how many bikes are available at our station and where the nearest empty stands are to park when you arrive at your destination.
